NurburgringWatch our movies1 June 2009Monday, June 1st, 2009BirdwatchingA nice sunny day, lots of people, a bit too much actually. Because of some maintenance we still had to do on the M3 we went out with the M6 and M5. The strangest birds were cerainly M&M in their yellow canary… 7 May 2009Thursday, May 7th, 2009Midweek escapeFulll open weekday..the Ring at its best with not too much traffic. Notice the white X6 M….and the grey M3 at Pflanzgarden: need some downforce there! 2-3 May 2009Sunday, May 3rd, 2009Easter @ the ringFirst real weekend this year. The M3 performed very well, we managed to do the right on the spot adjustments on the suspension. Some nice pictures of our towing vehicle on the Ring…watch them! IT was Scuderia Hanseat, so there were some nice vehicles on the track!! 12-13 October 2008Monday, October 13th, 2008High Tension @ the ringA weekend marked by “tension” problems: First on Sunday a loose contact on the alternator stopped Tom dramatically after … 130 m. Most expensive ring drive ever per meter: 268 € or 2 €/m! . Beautiful weather on Monday, lots of people, nice an fast driving. The M3 did verrrrrry well, the Z3M coupe also did his rounds. Lots of accidents and at the end of the session we were very lucky. Geert drove a few 100m behind the AC Schnitzer M6 Tension when the Tension blew his engine…massive oil spill. Luckily for us we passed without any problem, the Z3M Coupe also. A number of others were less lucky, amongst them an E46 M3 that went over the fender….No one got hurt, except for the ego and wallet of the AC Schnitzer driver. Track closed at 17h30-something. 3 October 2008Friday, October 3rd, 2008Pouring Rain on the RingWeekend of the Ferrari days. the ring was open all day, we were at the gate at 08h00… Before noon, it seemed like we would keep it dry and we managed Btg in 9 minutes with the E30 M3. The afternoon was…;very wet, but fun. See the pictures. 3 September 2008Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008A DAY@THE RING WITH COOLTECHFor the second time Dirk Peeters from Cooltech invited some business relations for a track day. In the pouring rain we drove the E30 M3 and the Z3 M Coupe for about 20 laps. Must say it was extremely slippery. Sadly at start/ziel, some wanker left an oil spill: the Z3 did a 180, ending up with some OPC-blue striping…No severe damage, only plastic bodywork. Nice to see: the Scuderia Hanseat and the bunch of supercars they gathered! 15-16 jun 2008Monday, June 16th, 2008A DAY@THE RING WITH COOLTECHA premiere for GT-Motorsports: as a customer incentive Dirk Peeters from Cooltech invited some customers for a track day. Nice weather, a beautiful parking lot as always. We had some setback with the alternator, but the Ring-spirit helped us out: within an hour a local car freak (sorry, forgot his name) provided a spare alternator and went back and forth at least 5 times for the right belt…THANKS A LOT! We drove about 20 laps with the E30M3 and the M6(Btg 8.45 in standard trim and worn street tires, next time warn me, Tom!). A very good day! 11-12 may 2008Monday, May 12th, 2008sunny sumer weekend in springWe spent this week changing the complete front suspension (boomerang arms, steering rods, stabilizers, all rubbers), the car handles a lot better now. Before next trip we will work on the rear suspension. The E30 M3 performed marvelously (about 20 rounds in 2 days, full throttle!), but we managed to blow a welding on the stainless steel Supersprint Exhaust…poor Italian welding, we will have to check on that. 28 April 2008Monday, April 28th, 2008nice weather, nice timesFinally spring is in the air. 07 April 2008Monday, April 7th, 2008Still snowing..who cares about global warming? We started of to the Ring at around 10…still had to fit new tires on the Ringtoy (GREY). Tom started of with Marc B. with the empty trailer, Marc C. (red Porsche, see previous trip) on their tail. Geert drove the Ringtoy down to the Ring, the engine needed km. Seamless ride for the Ringtoy, whilst the others played in..The snow. Yes, “Sometimes It Snows In April”. We still managed to do 6 laps in total, not revving above 5000 rpm (engine has only 500 km!). Good behavior of the car, the horses still are fillies, but growing fast! See the movies. 23-24-25 march 2008Tuesday, March 25th, 2008A snowy easterAfter hard work and long night-shift, the new engine released its first roar at 4 AM, 23 march! In the afternoon: some small finishing, loading and of to the Ring. On arrival: SNOW! Monday morning, the ring was closed, so we took the opportunity to test the Ringtoy a bit and play with the Alpha-N fuel maps. Nice! Around noon the ring opened, and surprise: the Ring Toy was too loud (102 dB). Banned! So we took the M6 for some rounds. Slippery but a nice experience. Tuesday the ring stayed closed, so we drove around the beautiful Eifel to make some km and adapt the fuel maps a bit. Lunch and of home. 07 October 2007Sunday, October 7th, 2007Round 1A nice sunny day, for the first time back with on board cam. A promising WE…our first lap of the day. The film is in BW due to a very dirty windscreen, also camera was not 100% well positioned… Round 2Second round…unfortunately: also last of the day. We suffered engine breakdown (oilpump)…We’ll know what to do this winter. 18 June 2007Monday, June 18th, 2007We went to the Nurburgring 18/06/2007 to take our E30 M3 1987 out for the first time…not bad at all (slight understatement). Still a lot of engine work to do and a lot of horses still asleep…Kindly filmed by Kurt from “De Kroeg” in Oplinter (B) driving his E46 M3. April 2007Sunday, April 15th, 2007Two trips to the ring in April. See the pictures: Geert (M6), Tom (M5), Lieven (M3), Sven (M3 cab). Thanks to Danny for showing how to drive an Z3M Coupe and an M6 in the Grüne Hölle! |
